The ExxTainer principle
The ExxTainer solutions combines concepts from various areas of the modern IT landscape in e-business including:
- electronic data interchange based on standardised messages (XML-EDI)
- workflow for procedure-oriented transaction processing (EAI)
- option of fully automatic ERP integration via EDI adapter (connector)
- option of merging any documents into processes (business process integration)
- option of form-based processing based on a Web portal view (Web EDI)
ExxTainer solutions combine these concepts in an innovative approach – the Data Container Principle.
- EDI on its own is often inadequate – the systems must keep to agreed rules, but often don’t do this in practice:
- this leads to faults in the process flow,
- a cross-company process must be fixed and technically evaluable
- the cross-company workflow must be regulated without the need to adapt the participating Enterprise Resource Planning systems:
- every transaction has its own procedure,
- an intermediary (as „validator”) checks the process rules for every process,
- the checking rules must be able to differ for every process
- small business partners with few documents per year must be as accessible as those for partners with numerous documents and an automated connection.
The ExxTainer Data Container Principle facilitates a smooth exchange of business data.
- EDI messages (EDIFACT/XML) are automatically created from the business partner’s respective ERP system or adopted by the ERP system (via Connectors as automatic interface for data import and export into and out of the data container). EDI messages can also be transferred from the respective ERP system into the data container and visualised for users as original documents (web browser as man-machine interface). This is required above all when the recipient has or wants no connection to an ERP system, e.g. smaller and occasional suppliers, minor traders and shopkeepers.
- Documents represent different views of the same data (according to the data container principle).
- The data container enables not merely the exchange of single EDI messages, but of complete processes in the sense of a file (case file, supplier file), thus making it possible to transmit all documents in a business case.
- Every data container is assigned a (globally) unique case number, the "Container ID" and is thus immediately identifiable.
- The business messages in the data container are transmitted in encrypted form by https and signed electronically.
